Description:
Karaoke Confessions took place in the Ucross Ranch auditorium during October of 2005. It was a combination of concrete poetry, Karaoke, and a sort of group confessional.

After five minutes of briefing, the audience was prepared to interpret game-like poetry appearing on a video monitor. A video camera facing the participants documented the event.

During the taping I stood behind the camera and quietly directed them with simple instructions : whisper, applaud, be angry, be happy, laugh, etc.

The participants had the liberty to choose and interpret a variety of phrases and words. They were about as responsible for what they said as movie goers are responsible for what they see. In this way they could explore diverse subjects and emotions in a game-like social situation
