Description:
An edible painting using candy dots as pixels, this piece is based on a European press photo of an Iraqi boy who's face was filled with shrapnel and hands were blown off due to U.S. agression. The work was designed to call attention to the differences in the way the Iraqi war is portrayed in the U.S., with relatively mild photographs, and the way it is portrayed virtually everywhere else in the world. The work was made in Berlin. During the exhibition German audience members were invited to eat the candy thus literally consuming the imagery. This consumption was recorded on video. Then the painting and video were exhibited in the U.S. Right before the last presidential election.
